Although Apple has one of the best reputations that a brand has in the whole world, it seems as if nearly every new product that they launch has some sort of issues. One of the most well-known of these is when the iPhone 4 first came to the market in 2010 and a lot of people couldn’t get coverage when they held their phone in a certain way. Not exactly what you want to have to deal with when you’re paying around £500+, is it? Well unfortunately it looks like something similar is happening with the iPad 3, and a free bumper case isn’t going to fix this one!

Many people who have recently bought the Apple iPad 3 have noticed that there is a problem with the Wi-Fi. If you have the iPad 3 and you noticed that it’s taking longer than usual to load pages or even if you’re finding it difficult to connect to wireless networks then you could be affected by this issue. The problem with this is that it might be hard to tell whether there’s something wrong with your iPad or not since you might just have slow internet speeds now and again while you’re using any device, whether it’s a laptop, phone or iPad.

At the moment there is no official news about this from Apple, but there has been an email that has been leaked from a customer service email. The good news about the email is that it seems as if Apple are taking this matter seriously, so don’t be worried that they are just going to tell everyone that there are no problems with the latest iPad. For many new owners of the iPad 3 it might be a bit scary to see that on the Apple support forums there has been nearly 1,000 replies (at the time of this post, we’re expecting it to continue to rise quickly!) about these Wi-Fi problems that iPad 3 owners are experiencing.

So, what do we recommend? Well, firstly we think that you should reset your iPad to factory settings (after backing it up of course!) and see does that get rid of the problem. This will get rid of any software bugs that might be there, but if you’re still not happy with the Wi-Fi on your iPad 3 contact Apple as soon as possible and see what they can do for you.

I’ve always wanted one of those jetpacks you see in movies or cartoons, but its quite hard to believe that they exist. However thrill seeking Eric Scott has rekindled that excitement for the the rest of the world and set a new Guinness World record whilst he was doing it.

At a whopping 68mph, which was verified by a police speed gun, Eric is officially the fastest man to ever use a jetpack.

Made famous by the Bond film Thunderball in the 60′s, the jetpack is propelled by a similar hydrogen peroxide used in the original film. This allowed the daredevil around 30 seconds of flying time, which was enough to break the record. Heres to the future of public transport – our own jetpacks!

Ever found youself scratching your head trying to decipher a map? If so, maybe you should invest in a GPS. If you are new to the world of GPS, be rest assured this nifty device will make your driving alot easier! GPS stands for global positioning system and is a satellite based positioning technology that is used for navigation. Once a very sophisticated technology, used only in the military, has now become a widespread commercial product. Satellite Navigation is a two element system that has a display unit (the screen in which you interact with) and a GPS data receiver. The GPS satellites send signals to the reciever and that information is then sent to the display unit, these signals are then detectected and the GPS unit is able to identify its exact position on the planet. The onboard GPS software interprets its position and will relay its location to the user in the form of a local map.

The Tom Tom One Classic - Around £99

Common uses of Sat Nav are for simple route finding around a country, or your city. It can help you located street names, tourist attractions and even postcodes to a great degree of accuracy. Most systems now have the ability to re-plot your course, should you take a wrong turn and even warn you of busy traffic spots or speeding camera positions (although of course you would never speed right?!).

The Sat nav units are also able to store information on popular destinations, such as “home” or “work”, so these common locations can be quickly revisited for ease of use. Although, for safety’s sake i would recommend never leaving “Home” stored into your GPS. The reason being, that if someone manages to hotwire your car, or steal your keys, they can drive straight to your (probably empty) home.

One problem with Sat Nav units is the way in which maps can become outdated, however most modern units can be updated for free online, by the Manufacturers own updating services. This enables the user to keep their local maps up to date and avoid taking a slower route to your destination. If you like your car journeys to be stress free, or simply hate reading maps, don’t hesitate to try a GPS – You won’t ever look back!

Thinking about buying a digital camera?

If you are thinking about buying a Digital Camera, make sure to read through some of these suggestions before going ahead. Digital cameras can be found in many many shapes, sizes, colors, and brands. There are also multiple zoom lenses, accessories, playback modes, and just about anything else you can imagine, so it can get a little confusing for a casual user. Because of this, I have outlined a few tips to help you choose the right Digital Camera.

1. Always Try Before You Buy

If you don’t already have a digital camera make sure you try before you buy, get a feel for the unit and make sure it is small/big enough, has a good build quality and the right functionality for your needs.

2. Get the camera with the right resolution.

When SLR cameras ruled the professional photography market, it was unheard of to purchase a 10mp camera for casual use, but now it is possible. The Megapixel is a measure of the image quality within the photo taken. Each dot in a picture is a pixel, thefore the more pixels the camera can fit into the picture, the higher the quality and resolution of the shot. I would suggest 3 or 4MP cameras are suitable for casual or home use, and 8-10MP plus for more professional work.

3. Make sure you have enough storage on your SD card.

The Pentax Optio M30

When you take a photo, it needs to be stored somewhere! The quality of the camera will affect the size of the image file once taken. A 128MB SD card will store on average 113 photos from a 1MP camera, 60 from a 3MP camera and 38 from a 6MP camera, so buy a memory card that is suitable to your usage. My recommendation would be at least a 512MB card which will allow enough room for you to also store video.

4. Ensure you find suitable protection for your camera.

Once you have bought your camera, make sure that you have adequate protection for it. The delicate nature of these items can mean water, dirt or scratches can severely affect the performance of the unit. A solid camera case will also protect your purchase from any minor knocks or bumps, and increase its durability.

We will soon be going into more advanced digital camera tips, but for now enjoy your purchase and get snapping!
